Colonia Victoria (Fr) 2020

f (2020) Zarak x Varsity (Lomitas)

I have bought this exciting filly from Germany called Colonia Victoria.  She is a 4yo by the beautifully bred stallion Zarak (who has outstanding stats for his first jumpers given his flat racing profile) progeny include Grade 1 placed Zarak The Brave – Grade 1 placed Bo Zenith, Mistergif – recent maiden hurdle winner for Willie Mullins and Sermandzarak – recent debut bumper winner for Gordon Elliott.  Willie had four of the six to win over hurdles in GB & IRE so far until Golden Maverick, who I bought from Newmarket in October, won for Jamie Snowden ay Haydock on March 20th.
Her dam was a 100 rated flat performer when trained by Charlie Swan.  The damsire, Lomitas, has produced the dam of three Grade 1 jumpers in The Giant Bolster, Coeur Sublime and Quilixios. Colonia Victoria’s page is Black type all the way down and her half-brother is a Grade 1 winner and placed in a Grade 1 behind the freak Il Est Francais at Auteuil.  Her full-sister with Gary Moore (Same owner as Bo Zenith) won twice at Kempton over 12f in January, looking ready-made for a juvenile hurdle.
Colonia Victoria is a winner over 10 furlongs as a 2yo in Soft ground and placed on five other occasions ranging from 7 to 15 furlongs.  She has been kept to mainly Listed company in 2023 before a tilt at the Italian St Leger where she was only a few lengths behind 109 rated Group 3 Henry II Stakes winner, Roberto Escobarr.
She stands at 16’1+, is a solid stayer rated 94 who has been campaigned with breeding in mind, trying to sneak Black Type rather than winning races, could be dual-purpose and definitely have a life after racing given her pedigree , also her resale value in the end will be strong.
She has just arrived in the yard from Germany and I really like her.
