Murphy’s Law (Ire) 2014 – Sold

2014 bay Gelding by Gold Well

Murphy’s Law is a 4yo son of Goldwell (Sire of Grade 1 Jumpers Holywell, John’s Spirit and Sausalito Sunrise) out of an Old Vic mare (Old Vic has a tremendous record as a dam-sire including the great Annie Power and being the sire of a Gold Cup and Grand National winner directly himself!).  He is from the family of Fireball Macnamara, Baron Blakeney & Neon Wolf.

Murphy’s Law was a €29k store from the Land Rover Sale bought by ‘Shark’ Hanlon to run in Irish points where after a couple of runs for experience in the Spring when the Shark’s horses were not in great form, he put in a completely different performance last weekend at Turtulla.

He jumped and travelled very nicely in finishing 3rd of 9 starters, 6 lengths behind the winner, who was from the same yard who won the race last season with a very decent animal. He probably paid the price ultimately for running such an honest race, up with the strong pace from flag-fall, but still took the eye travelling away strongly approaching 3-out before galloping right through the line.

Irish point to point website said the following:
‘MURPHY’S LAW (IRE) failed to complete the course on his two outings last season and he gave a solid account on his return to action here, without troubling the two principals from the second last. He should make a bigger play next time out and this son of Gold Well is another probable winner that should emerge from this race.’

I saw him in the yard in January and he looked like a he was still growing, a 16’1 scopey type who moved well and everything he has done on the track so far has proved that to be the case.
